Quite simply, people are always full of good intentions until they realise you don’t get nuttin’ for nuttin’.
For any good result to happen, it normally takes, a decision, planning and action.
I too have been guilty of the gym thing, quite a few times, and the longest its gone for is 3 months. So I was a good example of doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result…. der!
The gym owners know this and purposely take in 3 or 4 times their capacity because they know most will drop out and in 2 months time you can’t find them with a search warrant.
Its the same with most ventures that around 90% of people undertake, and unfortunately, all progress is really up to a very small percentage of people.
This is where self education is invaluable. Again unfortunately most people don’t think they need it. And its the people who flatly refuse who need it the most.
But everyone needs a coach. If the worlds top athletes need a coach, then so do I.
My leadership curriculum is …. my coach, my new best friend.
Its actually made me slow down, think and plan, then finish. Funnily enough the hardest part for me physiologically was finishing the curriculum. Old habits stopped my progress.
But then again I will never finish because my self education never will.
Make the main things the main things, evaluate the noise and keep focused on the task ahead.
In the past I was always guilty of having 20 things on the go and rarely finishing even one. Then I would feel overwhelmed when thinking about what had to be done, put it in to too hard basket and watch tv instead … ugh! Ignore it and it may go away….nope…
Pressure is never a good situation, it seems to always be because of someone or something else, but is always always self inflicted. It affects everything you do from then on and it’s then a slippery downhill slide.
I’ve learned to focus my attention on what’s important and delegate the rest. Its easier not to do than to do, but, it’s the results that keep me motivated.
Who else has had or going through the gym thing … if your game to admit it???
